Try to avoid pushing the grease under the heat shield. Remove the heat shield for cleaning if you want. Installation -- Align inner axle with differential output shaft so the spring-pin holes match up. The heat from the exhaust tends to take a toll on the inner ones first.

If you break the stabilizer link bolts its not a big deal, my '01 Outback bolts are from Canadian Tire, the originals are long gone. The issue is the ball joint. mfg weaste
