WebJan 7, 2016 · It sounds as though the trunk latch is too tight and also needs lubrication. Perhaps try lubricating the latch with white lithium grease and adjust it so it is not so tight. On the underside of the trunk lid, on opposite sides, there are two rubber bumpers that can be turned in or out to adjust the trunk lid fit.
